EDP Renováveis is awarded a long-term RESA for 248.4 MW of wind onshore in Canada


Madrid, December 14th 2017: EDP Renováveis, S.A. (“EDPR”) is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, EDP Renewables Canada Ltd. was awarded by The Alberta Electricity System Operator (“AESO”) a 20-year Renewable Energy Support Agreement (“RESA”), for the delivery of 248.4 MW of onshore wind generation. The Sharp Hills Wind Farm is located in eastern Alberta, Canada, with commercial operation to occur in December 2019.

According with the auction scheme, the electricity produced by Sharp Hills Wind Farm will be sold to the market and if the realized market price is lower than the awarded price, the difference will be paid by AESO.

The success of EDPR in this auction reinforces the company’s low risk profile and its growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with long-term visibility.
